All the sudden got a pass side door ajar warning. I tried doing the WD40 trick but its still there. Any other ideas ? Do I need to change out the entire latch or do they sell just the door ajar switch
I have an 07 F-350 SD & had the same thing. The WD-40 did not work so I pulled the switches out.
It seemed to work for a while because the nothing indicated the door was ajar. Then one afternoon I hear the dinger in the driveway and found the battery was dead.
Talked to the service guy at Ford & he said the only fix was to replace the switches.
NAPA has them for about $16 a piece. They plug into the bottom of the latch where you been spraying the WD-40.
Well I soaked the latch three different times and it looks like wd doesn't do anything so I'm gonna go after the switch and replace it.
Can I get the switch out without taking off the entire latch ?
Bought a switch from Napa. Changed out and before I put the door back together I checked the switch. Apparently the switch was made wrong and was backwards (door open door showed closed--door closed door showed ajar) Brought that back and went right to Ford. New switch in and back together working.
One tip for people switching out or even cleaning the switch:
There is a 10mm support for the window track that needs to come off allowing the track to move to give your hand room. After that it's loose your hand can get in there and get the switch off.
Latch: You DONT need to take the entire latch off, just needs to unscrewed from the door and leave it hanging giving you room. Switch off and back on very easily. The switch was $23 for Ford and NAPA was $18.
