Spray WD-40 into the door latch assembly and slam the door several times. That works for most folks on here. It's normally the driver's door ajar switch that acts up because it gets the most use.
what year is your truck. in my 01 sd i will run into that about once a year. and its caused by the switch not getting a good connection. the fix. fluid film, wd-40, pb, what ever your preference. sprayed into the door latches and open and close the door a few times.
as far as the battery. the light shouldn't kill it. mine kills the interior light and door ajar light after about 5 min. of being turned on if the truck is off.
I'm having the same problem on my 1999 F250. I thought the WD-40 worked when I sprayed it (yesterday) but walked outside this morning and voila the light stayed on again. What's the next step if spraying it with WD-40 doesn't clear it up?
If the WD-40 trick doesn't work, then the door ajar switch is probably bad. It is in the door latch assembly. The drivers door is usually the one that goes bad.
