Anyone know what this goofy little bracket / guide is for under my tailgate on my 2015 F350? It's interfering with the installation of my tailgate light bar. Can I remove it without any ill effects? I'm sure it's there for a purpose, just can't see why. Thanks!
I believe that is required for the folding step to prevent the tail gate from shifting while ascending or descending the step.
That sounds like a good explanation for it. I really don't see the tailgate shifting all that much, if at all, while using the step. I think I'll just try removing it, hopefully it's painted under the bracket. Thanks!
My 2015 has that bracket but there's nothing riding in that slot. I assumed it was something used at the factory for lowering the bed onto the chasis and just left there like some of the engine lift brackets.
I have the tailgate step set up, and have also removed the guide piece on my truck for two reasons.
Reason one was to install a light bar set up.
Reason two was it was a pain to remove my tailgate when I want to install my 5th wheel tailgate in place.
