So when I bought my truck it had 1 1/4" round "universal" license plate lights in it. The kind you can't take apart so when they blow you toss the entire thing and buy a new one. Well I'm on the third one in less than a year...
However, I don't see that part on the Ford Parts website. Does anyone know the correct part, and if so does it have a replaceable bulb? I want a replaceable bulb so I can replace it with an LED! I'm gradually replacing every incan bulb that I own with an LED, including every last bulb on my truck and although I've found the universal 1 1/4" round license/utility lights in LED, those don't exactly fit all that well in the stock openings.
If I can't find them, I'm welding the holes closed and then I'll bore new ones at 1 1/4" round and use the LED universals!
Hey there svp, morning. Those are close but they look like my universal ones I have now. My bumper has rounded holes with a square notch on each side instead of just a plain round hole. I'll take a pic...
yes, those black ones you showed the link to are what fits your Stock bumper. I am not quite sure how those chicy aftermarket lights even stayed in the bumper
And here is the pigtail that fits for an ASTRONOMICAL amount(194 bulb is what fits) just go junk yard shopping to get the correct harness and lens that plug right in BWD Automotive PT5603 License Plate Light Socket | eBay
Yeah the cheap aftermarket ones won't stay put unless I bend the crap out of the retainer fingers. That, along with them failing so often, is why I went looking for the right ones.
