If the information Number Dummy gave you on the warranty plate decode doesn't square with what you are seeing on your truck, there is always the chance that some PO has replaced the driver's door and brought with it an incorrect warranty plate. It happens a lot. These things are 50 years old. Perhaps you should check the VIN on the top of the passenger side frame rail against the door plate information and the VIN on your title to make sure all three read the same.

Thanks! I'll check the frame.... the warranty plate does look too new, like if it has been replaced at some point. Is that even possible?

Sure it's possible. The plate can be removed by either drilling out the rivets, or the original rivets can sometimes be reused by punching them "backwards" from inside the door cavity. Reproduction warranty plates are available from Kevin Marti (who does the Mustang reports) and he will emboss them for you if you provide the information. I'm pretty sure he has some safeguards in place to keep just anybody from requesting whatever they want, but I'm not an expert on that. Good luck!
