You should not smell in the truck blowing. And should not dirty truck keepers under hood clean inter cooler clean and turbo and motor from eating the puke. Mine smells like fries onion rings and chicken. Yours should not be bad sky ski
Only smell it in the cab if the wind is blowing it back in an open window - even infrequent, it is never pleasant... It's not pleasant outside ever... The smoke makes most people think the truck is broken and all that 'annoying oil' ends up under the truck (just look under any big truck with a draft tube).
I feel like my often appetizing exhaust odor is contaminated by the under-the-valve cover stench from CCV!
Besides that, the turbo is far from eating puke. It certainly ingests a small àmount of oil vapor - but I've seen stock turbo wheels with 400k miles that were not damaged. And those oily CAC boots? That is mostly a function of the crappy stock boots and TYPICAL boost leaks from poorly maintained trucks. Besides, the oil that does leak around the boots is easily cleaned with a little soap and p-washer...
To be clear, I'm not a fan of open CCV. I don't have a good option with T4/S366 so my junk is open to atmosphere.
I run the Racor unit built for the 7.3L. It replaces the factory doghouse, but re-introduces the filtered vapors back into the factory intake inlet where the original CCV did. The pressure differentials remain balanced, and the engine remains clean, as does the surrounding atmosphere. Not sure if there is an EO for it, cause my truck is exempt. The device palpably reduces emissions though. One of the best mods I ever did.
