I've had a few GM products over the years. Pet peeve? I doesn't inspire confidence that every one has needed to have one or more door handles replaced because the pot-metal castings break................otherwise they've all taken a beating and kept running.
Buick Century, GMC 2500 custom van and an S10 off the top of my head.
My girlfriend has an '07 Chevy Malibu and for the most part its been a trouble-free car. A few weeks ago the latch for the rear passenger side door broke, but GM fixed that under warranty. Other than that, she hasnt had any issues with the car and really doesnt have anything bad to say about it.
Me personally, I grew up in a family who drove Fords but if Ford doesnt get their act together and come up with a fitting replacement for the Ranger, my next truck will be a Chevy Colorado. Id love to stick with Ford, but I dont want or need a fullsize truck, so if Ford doesnt offer a midsize I guess I will be switching to a bowtie.
As far as us being hard on Chevy on this forum, what do you expect? Im sure that if you went on a Chevy forum that you would find they rip on Ford, so whats the big deal?
As far as, "whats American" goes. To me, it has to be a company that is American-owned. I dont care how many vehicles Toyota or Honda builds here, they will NEVER be American companies.

But how is a company that is publicly traded "American owned"???
When an "American Company" has headquarters in Europe, Australia etc... is it truly All-American???
When the "American" company has factories in Mexico and is building them in China and India......does that dilute the pedigree???
American is not in the name. that wasn't my point anyway. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge were all founded by American men and were American companies. Now , of course , the economy , market , and culture have all chenged since then. in order to at least have a chance of staying competitive, the companies need to produce models in Mexico and move some offices or else we all will be driving ricers

Basically you are asking if a Ford Fusion is more American than a Toyota Camry. The answer is, "yes".
Even though the Ford is made in Mexico, it is still more American because the profits go to an American company instead of going back to Japan.

Ok so here is another way to look at it. How much has that "American" company invested in "America" lately?
Last I heard, the "Japanese" company was building plants and providing jobs in the US......
