So I've been driving my 2007 f-250 regularly and haven't had any problems or anything. Yesterday when I went to start it, all I heard was a faint whirring noise. The engine won't turn over. I checked the voltage and connections on my batteries and those are all good. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?
Okay thank you. Was thinking that could be the problem
One thing you can try is to take this wire in the photo and
open the connector up. Take the end that heads down to the starter
and touch it to the post in the + battery connection. This should send
power to the solenoid. You should hear a click. If not they bets are
good that the starter solenoid has had it.
Now if it does start you still might have a bad solenoid and might
be picking right now to work. Also after you do get things done
you might want ot do a Voltage Drop test to check the cables.
A bad cable can be hard to spot. Here is a good Youtube on that test.
