I have a 1988 302 F150 2wd. I cannot find a diagram in any of my manuals that shows me where the knock sensor is or somtimes called the ESC sensor. I have a slight ping on ecceleration. This ping goes away when I increase octane. I also have a code 32 on the continuous memory test. I get a system ok on the KOER test and I get the same on the KOEO test. The symtoms are hard starting and stall when cold first start of the day. After intial start I don't have a problem. It also seems to occur when it is hot outside and not during the winter. The AC on or off dosen't effect it. It also dosen't change with tank selection.
autozone.com has a component location lookup.
It says "UNDER HOOD, CENTER, UPPER ENGINE AREA". Not very informative, but sometimes it gives enough info to allow you to find what your looking for.
On my '86 the knock sensor is located on the lower intake manifold, on the drivers side. There is also an air charge temp sensor near it.
