I am thinking of adding one or two inch wheel spacers to my 03 edge. Does anyone have pictures of this setup on a non lifted truck, or know what size wheel spacers would fit without trimming the stock wheel studs down? Thanks!
Nick, you have probably guessed by now that most posters here are not big fans of wheel spacers. Here are some of the reasons: spacers increase the load on the wheel bearings, spacers often make the tires stick outside the sheetmetal, spacers often make the tires rub on the edge of the fenders during turns and during jounce and rebound.
Measure the distance between the tire and fender at the top of the tire, front and back and see if 1 or 2 inches are available to move the tire. Lastly, almost all states have statutes that prohibit the tire from sticking outside the outer surface of the fender. They do this by dropping a plumb bob down from the top of the fender opening to see if it touches sidewall or tread. Sidewall is acceptable, but tread is not because that can throw rooks and road such up into other traffic.
Thanks for the reply. My truck is an '02 Edge, so I have factory fender flares. I was thinking 1.25" spacers wouldn't add to much stress and would help fill out the wheel wells without having them sticking out.
