the switches i went with (just some universal things i found at the local auto zone) are ok,but those built in lights are way too bright at night.if i actually used the lights much,i would darken them out with some black paint or something.
thanks.she's a good old work horse.west coast mirrors.west coast jr's may look better with a factory pickup bed.

I did not use a relay, I think it was for a rotating beacon light that was made to be plugged into the cig lighter. The wires were tiny so it couldn't have been pulling much current. It might have been for a work light on the back which probably should have been on a relay. It's been a few years now.

Lol. I gave up on cheap discount switches... they SUCK!!
These Harmony XB4 - Schneider Electric Corporate are nice because not only are they compact, but like any industrial switch you can add or remove as many normally open and normally closed contact blocks as you need. I have a few of the rotary selector and pushbutton switches that I got from various junk that was being thrown away at work.
I also have a couple nice factory Ford air ride rocker switches from Panther cars (Crown Vic/Grand Marq/Town Car) that I snagged from the junkyard. They have a recessed rocker and accept a pigtail connection for easy removal.
As for the LED's in aftermarket switches being too bright, I have to agree. You could switch a current limiting resistor in/out on the ground side of the LED using a double throw relay operated by the parking light circuit. Then the LED would be bright during the day and dim at night.

Personally on our 92 f250 I have a cluster surround from a 92-96 bronco with rear window defrost. I plan to find a button that fits close to the size of the window defrost button for the lights I plan for the lights I will be putting on the bumper. The rest of the switches for lights I haven't figured out just yet.
