Aux. switch locations 92-96?

Hi all,

im going to be adding some lights to my truck soon, which means i need to have switches to control them.

Where do you guys put your switches? i want something that looks factory. i cant come up with anything good. i dont use my ashtray for smoking but i use it to hold business cards, so i want to keep it. i also dont have any room within reach that wont be in the way, on the bottom of the dash...

i tried the search function, but most peoples pictures no longer show up :(

Please post pictures of your set up.

Thanks!

You can see in this pic where I put my foglight switch (ignore the half installed stereo, we were still testing). I would have put it where the LED was, but at the time I thought the LED was there to act as warning light and I didn't want to touch it (the PO neglected to tell me it was for the OLD alarm, and disconnected).

I mounted my switches in the same location as Golden Helmet, only I made a switch panel out of a piece of stainless and mounted my switches to it. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...a446c0bfcb.jpg

No pictures but I'm planning on either an overhead or center console. Can't use the space on the dash that most people use because I cut that out to mount my SG2. I have a few things to mount so that space would be way too small for me since I plan on using mostly rotary selectors and rocker switches.

For some nice looking switches check out OTRATTW. They don't look period factory for our trucks, but I think they're pretty good looking.

I don't have any pictures of the aux switches in my pickup, but here's a pic of what I have in my Bronco. I've got pretty much the same setup in the truck. It doesn't seem to be in the way of anything for me, and although it's not super easy to reach, it's not that bad (and it's not like I'm switching them constantly either). I've done this on 4 different pickups now ('95, '08, '02 and now '97) as well as my Bronco, so obviously it works well for me.

Here's where I mounted mine

I used all of the factory mounting holes for the trim so if I want to remove it to make it look factory I can

I added in an extra fuse panel from blue seas

All wired in with relays

All that work to run all these
7- 100w lights

Nice pictures guys, keep them coming!

I like the idea of putting them next to the instrument cluster. I may go that route. But I'll have to use some matching black plastic so it looks factory.

I plan on trying to get the switches from a Bronco with the electronic shift on the fly that mount in the blank panel to the left of the cluster and getting them to work. Low key & looks factory.

Mine are going in an overhead pod. It's not finished but this is the general idea. The pod is from a F-650.

I made my own panel in place of the ashtray. Only thing I don't like about having it there is when someone is sitting in the middle seat of the bench, you can't really reach them...lol

i think that is the location im going to use... im going to look and see if i can find any switches that match the stock window switches... or maybe ill go with something cool... ;)

i am going to mount a panel in that spot so it looks more finished, i just need to find some matching black plastic, and get over the fear of cutting a hole in the bezel...

awesome truck BTW, i love those mirrors. i wish mine had that style.

FORDF250HDXLT 12-04-2014 09:59 PM

the switches i went with (just some universal things i found at the local auto zone) are ok,but those built in lights are way too bright at night.if i actually used the lights much,i would darken them out with some black paint or something.

thanks.she's a good old work horse.west coast mirrors.west coast jr's may look better with a factory pickup bed.

Where did you get that? I just went looking for one and can't find that part anywhere... it might work for what I want.
