This is My first post I am a new member from Florida who just bought a 1981 f100 reg cab long bed with the 300 i6 automatic. It is ugly and rusty and needs a whole bunch of work but it runs like a top so I am happy. I will warn ahead I am horrible with punctuation and grammar so sorry ahead of time.
This will kind of be a DD project truck and I am hoping one day to convert it to 4wd. It will also get a custom stereo which depending may become a log.
Welcome to FTE! Other than yours being an F100 and my two being F150's, our trucks have a lot in common.
As for your spelling and punctuation, they look great to me. What bothers me is someone expecting this to be like texting his best friend, and I usually give those a wide berth.
I understand that completely though it is hard to resist the urge to type like that considering I'm usually on the forums on my phone.
As for pictures I've been too busy fixing her to have enough daylight left to take them though tomorrow after I get my new 31x10.5x15 duratracs I should snap some if I remember.
I'm actually in Hudson Florida not too far outside of Tampa. My previous truck was a 2013 f150 but I decided I want an older truck instead. Can't wait to be back in the world of minimum electronics to deal with when modifying and repairing. This project will come with a steep learning curve in metal and body work which will be nice practice for when I start my restore of my 1971 mustang.
Yep I sure understand that so do I though my dad gave me advice early on in my life that I generally ignore except in times of great turmoil. I believe it goes happy wife happy life and that is wonderful story of how I came to be restoring a 1971 mustang convertible.

Now, that is a different story. There's much to like about those Mustangs, especially when your wife likes one as well.
We'll, deep pockets aren't truly necessary. I paid $500 for Rusty with a blown rear axle but with an operating 4wd setup. Swap the 4wd setup to your 2wd and then sell the now 2wd truck.
That makes sense and I want 4wd one day but will settle right now with installing a sliding rear window that isn't partially taped plexiglass and getting a long bed for it that doesn't require plywood on the bed to make sure nothing falls through the rust holes. This thing will definitely be a lot of sourcing and buying parts for sure.
Even better I was driving my fiance to work tonight and first gear started slipping something fierce when in drive. I was able to mitigate it by manually shifting to first and lightly applying throttle til it grabs. The truck won't even inch in drive without giving it gas. Check the fluid level and it was above the arrow on the dipstick though didn't look aerated. The fluid was nice and red though I'm concerned because I found in the bed empty bottles of atf4 for Chrysler from the previous owner and I'm not sure if that would cause an issue or not. Also in drive once it's done slipping it shifts to every other gear perfectly and as long as I don't stop I am fine. Though the problem didn't present itself until the trans was warm and was much worse slipping while turning though it may have just been me confused trying to focus on so many things at once.
