5 speed zf transmission questions.

Well I got it all back together yesterday. That LuK clutch is sweet! Nice and light, and the truck is a lot quieter with-out the dual mass flywheel. The dual mass pretty much came out in pieces. Had a zillion ball bearings go scattering across the floor when I unbolted it. So far the 47 tranny I put in shifts much nicer and tighter feeling than my old 42. We'll see how long it lasts. I changed the fluid after about 20 miles and it had slight brown tinge to it, telling me the surface rust was working off. Ill change it again after a couple hundred miles, and probably again at my next oil change. Tranny sounds nice and quiet, so I am crossing my fingers.
Oh and the lower gears in the 47 are a huge improvement too.

my '97 had the -47 trans with the 1356 transfer case, I just put my spare '97 trans in and it is a -47 with the 4407 transfer case.

nope! I am the third owner, a friend of mine bought when it was 1 1/2 years old. I bought it with 60,000 miles on it. I was the first one to pull the transmission when I changed the clutch. what I removed was what ford put in new.I have all the maintenance records since it was new and the drive train had never been touched.
