4spd. Tilt column

I recently scored the holy grail! I found a 4 speed tilt column for my '78. It needs the upper bearing replaced and a new turn signal switch. I called LMC since I didn't see the parts I needed in their catalog. Anyone have any insight on this? TIA

I will try to do a detailed post on the rebuild. I'm going to have kind of a tight window to get this done when I go home for Christmas. Hopefully I can locate the parts I need before then. Any help will be appreciated!!

LMC is not the only place in the world to shop for parts...they are about the last place to shop and they are not even a FTE sponsor.

Ck out the sponsors at the top of this page...JBG (BG), Macs, BOTP, NPD.

Dennis carpenter is also not a sponsor, but a great place to shop IMO. Quality fitting parts, Ford tooling but $$.

Thanks to HIO Silver you can go here and read/click on the "Parts Vendors & Resources" links, have fun

I haven't had much luck finding out for sure which bearing it takes. Guess I will just have to wait till I get home, tear it apart and get some measurements. Unless someone comes up with some info before then. I'm stoked......had a usable sport wheel, the horn button even works! Also had the correct cover for where the column meets the dash!

Yes and it could be a broken tab, time to pull the steering wheel and look in at the t/s switch.

My 76 doesn't cancel because 18 years ago when I was putting in an aftermarket steering wheel, I couldn't figure out how to get the cam that cancels the switch off without breaking it. I just replaced my column and turn signal switch last weekend and the new column didn't have a cancel cam with it. I did see that Dennis Carpenter has that part listed. I'm may order it and try to restore order. Those people that try to turn left in front of me when I've forgotten to cancel my signal will appreciate it.

The basic part numbers are the same, but the tilt steering column bearings are not the same as your 1974 F350 (all F350's thru 1978 are 2WD).

Only basic part numbers are shown in parts catalog illustrations. The text section is required to get the complete part number by adding the apropos prefix and suffix.
