OEM fuel tank replacement

Hi guys! I have a 2014 f350 crew cab regular bed Diesel with a 26 gallon fuel tank and would like to put the OEM 37.5 tank. Is this at all possible and if so what is recommended to change other then the fuel tank?

If going through the trouble of replacing the tank, you might as well get a Titan tank or something similar. You could get up to 50 gallons with one of those. I'm looking at doing the same for my F250 CC Shortbed.

From what I have been reading the Titan 50 gallon it hangs way passed the frame. I didn't want to change the look and didn't what to add that much more weight to the truck..

as I understand it, the Titan tank hangs 2 inches lower, probably not noticable.

and if you are worried about ~85 pounds ((50-38) * 7), then you probably have the wrong truck.

I don't think the longbed 38 gal tank will fit. 5 model years and haven't seen anyone show that mod her or anywhere else. certainly won't fit with the DEF tank present.

Not to be that guy but it's ((50-26)*7) right? Just a little more than 85 lbs. but ya, not enough to worry with for sure.

2inchs isn't bad at all....but I wanted to keep it all OEM. Don't like to much aftermarket stuff. From what I see, the 50 is well made...

I have a LB so my tank is the Titan 65. Odds are pretty good you would not even notice the tank unless I pointed it out.

I have not see any mileage difference because of the weight.

I typically run my fuel down pretty low. I have a Titan 65 and RS 45 in the bed.

I drive to work low on fuel.
I fill up after work (because of price) and drive home

Adding 90 gallons of fuel (typical) yields no discernible mileage change

BTW, Edison, NJ Rt 1 fuel wars - $2.859 two days ago.

I am also looking to swap out the OEM 26g tank for a Titan tank. For those with Titan tanks: Does the mileage to empty still calculate correctly? Did you have to reprogram the ECU for the larger tank capacity?

the dealer can change the tank size in the computer for you to correct the MTE calculations. Not a customer changeable value.

this topic has a list of the instructions for the dealer tech to use (in case they don't know)
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12821374

some dealers charge for this, others not, some include it when doing other work (oil change...)

Thanks for the reply, was trying to avoid the dealer because I have a programmer on it. I have a SCT Livewire but it can not change the tank size. According to their tech the laptop software package can do it but it's $300. Got a call into the dealer for pricing. Ordered my tank from XDP this afternoon.

No. Yes. It was great to see 885 "distance to empty" when I filled up.

I got my Titan tank installed by the dealer. Of course they did not know how to set the tank size. I had to print out the instruction from the forum and provide them to the tech. It's nice to see 775 miles to empty. Thanks guys!
