Low power when cold issues
This is my 3rd 6.0l so I "kinda" know what I'm doing here. I've been knee deep in them for far too long.
Got a new to me 06 6.0l CC 4x4 dually lariat 135k, VERY clean truck.
Very low power when cold, fine when it warms up except the fact it gets 9mpg round town
. Pulls 10k like a boss.I have a SC2 and the ficm is ALWAYS 47.5 or higher, I was monitoring it for a few weeks. Carfax said the ficm was replaced at 85k.
I was getting ready to do the injector orings, stand pipes, dummy plugs and ball cup orings when I started getting rough running and injector 5 code.
So I started tearing it apart. Someone has already been in the engine before, found missing bolts in the valley, different colored injector o rings, ect.
I replaced all of the drivers side orings/dummy plugs and the inside of the engine is clean as a whistle. injectors look a little rough though, caked on black soot on tip and very dark(almost burnt) spots on the sides.
To me everything looks good in the engine except the injectors, so should I just shell out the dough for new injectors or just keep the ones I have? I only took apart the tops of my injectors to see if there was anything going on inside and the top pin slid very freely on all of them. The truck was used to pull a 5th wheel and had it's oil changed regularly.
I just don't want to do this again, but I don't feel like spending 1500$ if it doesn't really gain me anything. Will the oring swap eliminate the low power on start up or is there something else I can swap while I'm in there?
Thanks.
