Do an EGR delete if you do not have to do EPA testing. IPR Gen 2 is the way to go as it takes the cooler out completely.

While you have it apart it would be prudent to do a little preventive maintenance. Oil cooler and STC fitting are just a few steps away once you are in there.

Hey Wildman,

Was planning on doing the oil cooler and t-stat while I was in there anyway. My delta is crazy, high oil temp and low coolant temp. Hadnt thought about STC fitting. I will add that to the shopping list.

Anyone else have any recommendations while Im in there? So far, Im doing a EGR cooler delete, oil cooler, t-stat, STC fitting, and gonna clean the turbo and check the ring since I have had coolant running though it.

Your truck does NOT have an STC fitting

If I'm not mistaken, you mentioned your truck is an '04 model year, correct? If so, your truck does NOT have an STC (well it does, but not the troublesome one others are referring to).

Correct. My truck is a midyear 2004, "B" build so the first run with the "new and improved" EGR cooler.

Larger turbo drain tube? I don't know if your truck has the smaller one, or if the larger ones even do any good, but they're cheap enough and simple to do with the turbo off.

If your going to do the egr cooler and oil cooler at the same time.. I'd replace the ipr screen or at least pull it and make sure it's not stuck. There are plenty of vids showing the cleaning process.
When your doing the oil cooler.. take out all the oil and clean it right. Replace with the updated screen. I'd go with oem on the oil cooler (comes with screen) . If anything gets in that oil after installing the new oil cooler you can bet it will find its way to the ipr screen. Dont forget to blow out the bolt holes with shop air or you might get a false torque reading. Als, I put down a gallon of oil through the filter housing as I was pressing down the oil drain valve inside housing.
Helps with getting her fired back up.
I just did mine a week ago.. These are just tips folks gave me on here
