Front c v shaft

Ok on my front rear when I put it
In 4 x4 ( 2000 ford ranger 4.0 )and drive for a while I can smell gear oil burning off the exuast looks like it's coming out of the right c v shaft ? Is there a seal that goes in first Thats bad ? Thx

Anyone ? Do the c v shafts just pull out or are there c clips that have to be removed before I try and pull the shafts out ! Thx

There is a circlip holding they RH cv shaft yoke into the axle. Pry the yoke away from the axle assembly to release it.

So the diff cover has to come off

It does not. The circlip is on the RH stub shaft. You might want to look at the IPC's on fordparts.com

"Pry the yoke away from the axle assembly to release it."
