Last dog I had was a female Wolf, illegally taken from the wild when young, mistreated for a few months, then lost, and found by the pound. I got her from there, and she was the best dog I have ever had. Unfortunately when we moved here, she could not stand the weather in TN, and the people she went to shot her because she wet the carpet..
Our Suzy is an Andalusian Yak Hound. Bred and trained to drive away Yaks. Since we have had her there has not been one Andalusian Yak seen in this part of Louisiana----so she must be doing a good job. That's what we tell the neighbors. Actually, she appears to be part Bassett hound and possibly part Beagle. Came to us from the pound at about 6 weeks old. The only thing they knew for sure was that her momma was a genuine pet and her daddy came from a good family. Wouldn't trade her for the most expensive pure-bred in the world.
I have to say I have had a few dogs "we live near a road" And so far the best ones have been mutts. They have a lot of +'s 1) they are free 2) nobody else wants them 3) all you have to do is feed them one time and you can't get rid of them I have one right now that showed up with no hair and half starved. It is one of the smartest dogs I have ever owned and would not trade it for a $300+ Dog.
My owner is a black lab, always at my feet, in my suv, and completely pathetic when I am out of town (refuses to eat, has to be "put" outside, and sighs those long deep sighs til I come home) however, when I am home she chases her tail (once timed her at 2 hours straight chasing her tail--til she hit the dresser with her hard head and knocked herself out cold lol , has this thing for anything I throw, brings in her dishes when they are empty, and is of course my pillow when I'm sick........not surprising, her name is Rio Diamond.
