Putting everything back together after replacing clutch on 65 F100. 1. The retainer cap for the shifter has hooks that go under pins. On mine, those hooks are nearly worn through. Can anyone provide a part number and recommend a source? 2. Shifter boot doesn't appear to be correct. Is boot specific to 65 2WD? Again, suggestions for source? 3. 50W engine oil is recommended for trans. All I can find is 50W racing oil. Any problem with using that? Any help on these 3 items will be greatly appreciated!
Number Dummy had provided me with this information for the for the retainer cap for my NP 435.....this should work, m.
B8T-7220-D .. NP435 Shift Lever Retainer Cap / Obsolete
This spring loaded cap has two notches, is retained to the shift tower with two pins. To remove it, it must be pressed down and held down while turning it to remove it.
People unaware use pliers or channel locks in an attempt to remove it, which tears out one/both of the notches. Not Pleasant!
