I have 6 new gallons of Prestone anti-freeze which is about 5 years old. Will i be OK if i use some of this instead of the Ford stuff in my 2005 E150 w/4.6 engine?
Many thanks to all.,...jack
I use the prestone prediluted extended life 50/50 yellow - It says it will work/mix with any of the new anti freeze no matter the color. Not sure if that helps you or not. Is it the pre cut or full strength that you have? Dont think the age will matter as long as it was not open. If full strength make sure to cut 50/50 using distilled water only

It is full strength. Unopened. I also plan to use the Ford VC1 flush. All old coolant will be removed. Thanks,...jack
Jack - I have done some reading on this since replying to your post,& it seems there is no real clear cut answer as the different motors have different amounts of aluminums & alloys & each one seems to use different coolants, per fomoco. That said - I dont want to mislead you as my van only has 60 k and I have only used this as a topping off coolant. My owners manual states the coolant (yellow or gold VC7-A) is good for 100 k. Might want to get some other more knowledgable opinions on this b4 using what you have, to be on the safe side.
