No exciting power to the alternator. Light green wire with a red stripe.

Have you changed out the cluster?

Cluster

No I have not done anything other than batteries, glow plug solenoid, and alternator and starter. As far as electrical stuff goes.

Go ahead and check that exciter wire with a loading test light with the key on.
Also check those two fuse links by pulling on them, if they stretch they are bad.

Do you have a snow plow on this truck?

Yes it does. It runs between the cluster and the voltage regulator.

Does the instrument cluster need to be installed for the alternator to charge the system properly? I have my instrument cluster pulled for repair and am only getting 12.5v at the batteries
