new to forum and 4x4
Hi ALL, I recently picked up a 1990 f-350 crew cab long bed 4x4 v-8 gas. Its has the 460 in it. I dont know anything about having a truck this size or much about engines, transmissions, etc. i do however have a great group of friends that do. I was hoping that with your guys help and advice and with help with my friends that i could make a good weekend cruiser for me and my boys to cruise the beach. So does anybody know much about what i should do or what parts, websites, etc.? Thanks

Their is so many things you can do to the truck it all depends on what you like.
Are you an offroader?
What is the main purpose for this truck other then cruising the beach?
Are you looking for more power?
Their is so many websites out their the list could be longer then you could believe for parts for our trucks (yours does get slimmed down being it is in the 87-91 year range like I have).
If we can get a little more info we can probably give you some ideas to get your wallet moving. LOL

Not quite sure what I wanna do. I want it to be able to go anywhere and pull anything. Thinking lift kit, engine upgrades, intake. Pics coming soon. Gonna hit the junkyards tomorrow and dig around for interior. Thinking about getting rid of the bench seat in front. What have you done to yours and what year do you have redneck?

I have and the mods are:
88 F150 reg cab long bed 308 4x4:
black mirrors, fender flares, bed rails, brush guard (soon), working on rebuilding the engine, painted the tailgate letters black, 80-86 window handles, cb radio (almost have everything), diamond plate bed rails, bug deflector, painted gauge cluster needles, swapped cluster for tach cluster, and custom cup holders on the floor that retain the stock bench seat.
90 F150 reg cab long bed 302 4x4
Ouku 7" touchscreen radio and ranger rear speakers set behind the seat. This one is pretty much stock.
91 F250 extended cab long bed 460 4x4
Warn winch bumper with brush guard, mud flaps, currently rebuilding the engine, 2" lift, and probably a few things I can't think of.
89 F250 reg cab long bed 351 4x4
Flatbed, brush guard, custom bucket seat conversion (hated doing it), and again probably a few things I can't remember.
89 F350 crew cab long bed 460 2wd
Nothing yet this project was put on hold till I figure out what to do with it.
92 F250 reg cab long bed 351 4x4
flatbed, front fender flares, and soon dodge brush guard.
Ya I have quite a few of the ford truck line up.
For the seat conversion only seats that will work are out of a regular cab or crew cab 80-96 (97 F250HD and F350). Don't get one out of a extended cab! I made that mistake and modifying it to fit sucked and I will never again do it!
Depending on the tire size you want is going to let you know how much lift.
Engine upgrades I have read best to do is Headers and a good cam (34-255-5 by comp) is what is most recommended for a speed denstity 460 (I will more then likely be running this cam in the 91 F250).
Chaning the intake system will do nothing but more then likely harm. The stock air box is the best set up. At the most put a drop in filter made by Air aid, K&N or whatever you like but even then it won't help. In my 88 F150 I have a drop in Air aid but the other trucks I just have regular replacement filters.

There is a lot of knowledge here. Specific questions get answered a lot faster. Welcome to the OBS ADDICTION lol. There are a few other forums out there for information on drive train interior info. They are all under the same group as this site there is:
Powerstroke.org
Powerstrokenation.com
Powerstrokearmy.com
I know the next post is going to be he already stated it is a 460 gasser, but these sites have forums that will and can give a lot of info.

Just put a new cat and flowmaster today! Hoping the smog goes well. I was given a vortex supercharger to put in it. Was advised that it wouldn't do much or benefit me really. So probably gonna sell it for parts money. I really appreciate you guys giving genuine honest info. I'm a member on other forums and guys are smart asses and s#&t talkers. Thank you
