Installed a fuel pressure gauge. When the key is turned on the pressure goes to 53 lbs. When the pump times out, the pressure falls to zero in just a few seconds. Is this an injector bleeding down? Normal? Yes, no? Kind of hope it's an injector.
Yes, falling to zero is normal. The system is vented so pressure bleeds off when the pump isn't running. It's a safety measure so there's no pressure when the filter cap is removed or a fitting is loosened.
I was kind of hoping an injector was bleeding the pressure off. The truck is running like crap and as it warms up it gets worse. Loads of white smoke. I just put new injector cups in and replaced the inner and outer o-rings in the injectors. I rechecked the cups, they're holding their seal. Seems to be raw fuel coming out of the tail pipe. WHAT HAVE I SCREWED UP?!?!?!?
Did you hot-torque the injectors to 130 inch/pounds? Cold-torquing alone never worked for me - and I tried plenty of times. They always came loose within a few hundred miles, would bang, run terrible, and the truck would make its own fog bank.
I borrowed torque wrenches the first few visits under there, then I bought a 240 inch/pound max torque wrench.
No. The specs I have were for 120 in/lbs. I did that cold. It won't run well enough or long enough to drive far at all. I will go back and recheck the injector bolts.
Your fuel psi is low min is 50 psi to start and like 45 psiWOT. You goyt any codes ? You did all o rings cups and cooper crush ? How were your Under valve connectors ? New old 50 cent mod ?
I installed new VC gaskets and harness, copper washers and all. I'm going to do a compression test and double check the VC harness tomorrow just to check that off the list. Then maybe re-torque the injectors just to be sure. But I think I may have messed one up while putting it back together.
I have never used them only read about some issues on different sites about problems over the years you should look around about it after checking under valve covers my bro in law were just talking about this today at thanksgiving. If I remember correctly there is some thing about them on you tube.i am sure some who have used may say diff just check it out its your motor they are running.Good luck only trying to help not dampen your spirits.
