Coparts - Input needed
But: some have reported (I have seen no proof of such claims) that they retouch the photos to seem like they have less damage and are better off than they really are.
Now, some have salvage titles, other have clean/clear, damage varies and ranges, etc etc. You get what you pay for is what it seems like. I went to take a look at the nearest facility to me and i was unable because the vehicle was in limbo (AKA the owner could take it back and coparts doesnt have the title at the moment). I will have to take a look as the sale date gets closer.
So, what do y'all think of Coparts? any experience with them, thoughts?
Too many non-salvage jobs out that that run right and drive straight without any work to worry about what is really wrong with a salvage job.
ymmv
but have never ever tried putting one on the road. the only thing i do with salvage title vehicles is cut them up for parts.
when people would bring a salvage title vehicle into the body shop for repair, they were told and it was printed in large print any repairs done to this vehicle are as is, no warranty at all.
i have heard way to many horror stories of people spending a small fortune to repair a salvage title vehicle and then going after the shop that did the repairs when they find out they can not have it re-certified safe for road use.
-ALWAYS they end up costing more to repair than even the most thorough and extensive estimates ever suggest---ALWAYS!
-Many repairs require specialized equipment and the expertise to use it. This goes hand-in-hand with knowing when and where these sorts of practices must be put into action.
-Don't know what's required in your are to return a vehicle to road-ready use as far as inspections and insurance coverage but any salvage-titled vehicle should be viewed as a "this is mine forever, I'll never even try re-selling it......" way in order to save future problems.
Carefully searching various sellers would eventually result in the perfect vehicle for your needs. Salvage tends to not be advisable for 99.99% of the buying market.
