2001 4x4 f250. Something is binding when accelerating from a complete stop. I have to get on the gas pretty good to get the truck to move and it is very sluggish when it finally does until about 5 mph then it releases and drives normal. It doesn't do this every time but I would say 80% of the time and usually after driving for a little while. When it does this the od light starts flashing. I had my truck at a shop for about a month and they barely had time to look at it. I finally just went and picked it up today. They did tell me it wasn't showing any codes even when the od light flashed. Not sure if this is related but also when I put the truck in park to shut it down it revs up on its own quite a bit. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this?
Find another shop. If the OD light is blinking, there are codes. If the shop you took it too doesn't even know how to read the codes, how well do you think they'll do at fixing the actual problem?

I concur it sounds like the trans and the od light should pull a code for a VSS or something along them lines. Sounds like it might be a spag or apply piston in the trans is going out.
Oh yea I also concur with finding another shop or a brother with AE.
It's a 2001. The shop didn't do any upgrades that I'm aware of and it is a local shop.
With the truck being a 2001 there were some 2001 trans depending on the build date of the trans not the truck that had the mechanical diode set up which are known to go bad. But it is something that should have been replaced when rebuilt. The problem lies in the fact that 99% of trans builders don't have a clue about how to address the design flaws in a 4R100. They just throw new parts in and say it's rebuilt.
Now the problem you are having first made think are you sure the brake slide pins aren't hanging up ?? But a brake slide pin would not cause a OD light to blink. But maybe it could I just have never heard of a case of that happening. It couldn't hurt to check your brake pins and sure they move freely. Honestly I think there is an issue with the trans due to what is going on and the OD light blinking. Hopefully can get some codes and let us know what they are.
