So we got a timing cover from the junk yard, cleaned it up real good, put a new seal, new gasket, new harmonic balancer, and now after a few days I run the engine around for like 1 hour going to places and I have a few drops coming from behind the harmonic balancer? Any ideas?
What engine do you have ? Is the seal leaking ? or the pan gasket ....
300 i6 4.9 1993 F150, I was looking at it and was wondering if it might be from the pan gasket, but the harmonic balancer is covered in oil from the top to bottom, so if it was the pan, would it cover the balancer?
Time for a second opinion . Take it to a shop or service station . Have them put it on a rack and watch it while it is running . They may need to put dye in the oil . The leak should show . The front of that pan gasket does not look proper from what I see .
You dont have to pull the engine out too replace the gasket, get a timing cover gasket set,it has all the gasket's you need to fix the leak for about $20.00,you will have to pull the water pump, timing cover,e.t.c.
