Hey guys I wanted to get some input on who you guys like the best for online part distributors. I recently purchased some parts from Dennis Carpenter and Bronco Graveyard. I purchased a $40USD cab corner from DC and by the time it arrived at the shipping/receiving department of the company I work for total bill was $130.00 CDN, ouch. From Bronco Graveyard I received a $35USD bed patch panel and this part was $90CDN by the time it was in my hands.
I was a little disappointed in both these final costs but I can accept thats life of shipping from the US to Canada and this is compounded by our low dollar. I have a friend putting some time into a 72 Chevy P/U and he's got his parts from LMC and said shipping is high but not ridiculous. I'm not currently hunting for any one specific part so i'm just interested in any input you might have. Thanks.
If you live close to the border there are a few places that will charge small fees to hold the parts until you get them.other than that try to look for a Canadian company that you can order from.
Sometimes it looks very attractive to order parts from south of 49° parallel but what I have concluded in trying it a few times is that in the end it takes 2-4 weeks to save very little or nothing.
I just discovered Cross Canada the other day and it looks like the same Chinese stuff as everyone else so I'll definitely give them a try. The next items I'm going to be hunting down is lower trim and fender trim. My truck has all its trim still but the lowers are beat up by rocks, it's not a must replace item but something that I'd like too.
Soko brings up a great point, a friend of mine build a Jeep and was able to order everything he needed in 1 shot ($20k+) and had it shipped to a depot just south of the boarder and went and picked it up in an enclosed trailer. Still had to pay customs at the boarder but saved a ton on shipping.
I've used those border shipping places a couple of times, unless you are really close, it doesn't save you much if anything. You still may have to pay duty or GST at the border, plus whatever it costs you in fuel to get down there and back.

That being said, I don't mind the drive.
It is always worth the trip to bring back the cheap booze
On the cross border shipping, do not ship UPS, they charge stupid high "Duty" fees on items that should only have GST to pay. Ship USPS or someone else and you can save a fair bit.
You are right bro, this is a big issue on online shopping.
The cost they are showing in initial is different then end delivery product cost.
so online companies should resolve this issue otherwise this is a great loss for online company.
