My truck has what i believe to be a fairly bad case of front end sag, only about 3-4 inches between the top of the tire and the bottom of the wheel well, i want to even that out so the truck sits level. I'm looking at either getting a set of firestone air helper springs or sdtrucksprings.com HD coil springs. can anybody tell me the pros/cons of either of these setups?
Before getting my slide-in camper, I got one of the add-a-leaf front "leveling" kits. I believe mine was from Tuff Country. They sell the same kit for the F250/350's, and mine overshot level by about an inch. I need to get the F350 rear axle block spacers at some point, which would bring the rear up 2". As for the suspension in the front, I love the stiffer ride with the leveling kit. Much better steering on the road when I have the camper in, or when carrying/towing a load. The kit was less than $300, I believe. I also added the air bags for the rear for load carrying. As far as air kits for the front, I'm not so sure about that. A coil-over front might be great, but again, I'd want to drive one first. The add-a-leaf kit is straightforward and simple - you'll get more height, a stiffer ride, and that's it. My favorite alignment shop was happy to install it and do the alignment afterwards.
Sounds like the OP has 2 wheel drive. Coil front suspension.
that's correct mind is 2wd. I talked to a buddy that's got bags on the front of his 2wd 2500 HD and he said it raised his front end 2-3 inches I think I'm going with bags since they're cheaper
I tried front end bags on mine when the coil springs got tired. Won't ever do it again. Bought replacement springs from Ford and it still seemed to sag more than it should.
Finally ended up with 2" aluminum spacers under the new springs to get it back right again. If I had to do it all over again, I would have let the local spring shop build me a new set of front coils.
Proper way to measure wear isn't at the fender but where the bump stop is.
Supposed to be way more than that. Those were my old wore out springs.

Hey Hunter, check out the thread of when Roland & I installed my leveling kit. It has some info that will help you along the way.
A small amount of grinding may need to be done & you'll need a set of dual axis camber bushings. Any reputable alignment shop will carry them.
I let the shop install em when they aligned my truck.

Thanks for the info Frank, I just ordered the 2" blocks and want to do front shocks as well when they arrive, do you have any recommendations as far as brand/series?

I really don't have any favorites. I need new shocks all the way around, so I'm in the same boat.
I have Reflex's on the truck now.
