Fuel Problem
My buddy recently bought 96 F150 XL 4.9 6cyl. He's had trouble with the fuel gauge on both tanks. I helped him take the bed off, & replace the float in one of the tanks. Didn't really help. Lately it will run good on one tank for a while, then start running rough till it dies, He'll switch tanks, refire it & it'll run good on that one for a while, then do it all over again.
He also said he ran on front tank for a while, but when he filled em up it only held a gallon. I'm wondering if its transferring fuel for some reason.
Any info y'all got that I can pass along would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Fuel transfer is a common thing. The fuel gauge has a module in the instrument cluster. That could be bad causing irregular level readings.
As far as running rough, is there crap in the tank plugging the fuel sock. Not sure why it would run ok sometimes and then bad, switch tanks and it runs fine for a while and does it again.
