Fuel selector switch ?

Alright guys, When I bought this truck the guy said that he never used the front tank just the rear. Well, when I flip the switch to the front tank the fuel gauge pegs to full and the truck starts to spit and sputter. I put about 1 gallon of fuel in the tank to see if it would take it cause I didn't want to have to take it back out. Any idea's on what this could be?

An open fuel gauge circuit for that tank will cause the gauge to peg past full. Check the connector on the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) on top of the tank. I know..it's a pain to get to.
