Guess which cop I had to replace

The absolute worst one on a 98 expy to get to and replace. That's right number 3. The engineers that came up with this design should have to spend eternity changing these every day all day. Every heater hose setting on top of it. Plus that stupid power center. I did go ahead and Change the plug while it was at it.

I feel your pain. I had the same one fail 14 miles outside of Branson on our honeymoon this year, 200 miles from home. Luckily I found an O'Reillys and got it changed in the parking lot. It was expen$ive. I learned to keep spares on hand. Luckily I changed plugs last year.

Already done that one. It a lot easier in my mind then that #3. Not that it isn't a pita.

I thought the #3 was a piece of cake compared to the #4. Not sure what made the #3 so tough?
I take a few bungees or rope and tie back the heater hose lines to get easier access to both 3 and 4.
Try #8, you have to pull the fuel rail out slightly to access, not to mention, doing everything by feel.
I've changed out COP's on an F-250 V10 much easier, even though they set back further due to more space.

AS someone who is considering perhaps purchasing an Expedition of this vintage next March or April, may I ask: What do you mean by COP?

Yes, instead of a distributor and plug wires, for that engine, each cylinder has a coil pak that works specifically for that cylinder. It's located on top of the engine and drops down on top of the plug.
Here's four of them below, 8 per engine.

I see, said the blind man, as he picked up the hammer and saw.
I've never seen that type of setup before. I guess the good old fashioned tried and true way of doing things isn't good enough anymore.
How do you know when one those goes out? I would imagine you'd get a real stumble or misfire.
