06 F250 Fuel Vapor Canister Issue

So lately I've been having troubles fueling up my truck at any pump I'm at. Each time I start pumping fuel, it seemingly backs up and kicks the pump off within 15 seconds or so making the time to fuel up my truck not only a pain in the a$$, but also time consuming. So after doing a bit of research, it seems that this is an issue with 6.8l truck of the years 05 - 07. The problem seems to persist in trucks that are driven in areas that are dusty and tends to clog the charcoal canister. But, now that it's past warranty, it turns out it's a spendy item to replace (cheapest I've found the part is $250 on ebay).

My question is: has anyone found a workaround solution for this problem? Or am I going to have to spend the cash, remove the whole spare tire bracket assembly to get to the damn thing and replace it?

I had the same problem on my 2008. On the 08 it's located above the spare tire, so not sure if it's the same on your year. At any rate, I also couldn't stomach the cost of a replacement, so I removed mine and cut it open and poured the charcoal crap out and glued it back together. My fueling is perfect and I haven't had any adverse effects since i did it a year ago (no CEL, fuel vapor odors etc).

They look to be similar units. Where at did you make your cut to empty it out?

I believe it was the back side (as it sits on the truck). I just cut the whole side of it off with my Dremel tool at a factory seam.
