i,ve a 71 f-100 that changing to disc out of 78 .also will be trying to put the p/booster off of 78 too. also thep/s too. have been told that will have to change steering column or cut. this is a 3 on the tree. any help !
I put 78 discs and power brakes on my '70. You'll prolly need a PS-specific pitman arm due to an engineering change which revised the angle of its head. Is your 71 "late" or "early"? Build number M00000 or higher or prior to M00000, respectively?

This is only the second one I've ever seen. If you are doing a PS swap on a three speed truck, I can pull and ship the column.

Yup, that column is now part of 12ozD's build.
Here is the article I wrote on the swap, it is possible to cut down your column but it's a pain and not something I would recommend for someone who is not a professional welder. Power Steering & Disk Brakes 2wd 65-72 - Ford Trucks
This does also move the column up a bit, so the linkage may be different.
If you are going auto, then a 78-79 tilt column is the way to go. I'm trying to find my own rare 78-79 4x4 floor shift tilt column, I haven't even seen one of those trucks. I may end up with an aftermarket or rework the 80s one I have.

2x...I've been looking for over four years and have yet to luck upon one.
I've never actually seen a 3 speed power steering column and I owned and scrounged parts from literally hundreds of 67-72s. You could always use the bendix ps box that doesn't require any column change.
I've seen two now, the first was a 70 parts truck that was completely trashed, it rode around on bad cab mounts until it not only destroyed the lower bearing but severely wore the shift tube as well. I let that column go with the truck when it was scrapped. It was oddly optioned, a 360 with power steering, column shift, and full Ranger package with a cargo light and upholstered door panels, white cab roof, and full trim. You'd think if someone payed for all that stuff they'd get a four speed or automatic. The truck was a complete mess unfortunately so I just pulled some select bits off.
