brakes problem
I put new front disk brakes on my 2001 explorer sport. For some reason I cant get the pressure built up on the brake pedal. The pedal goes all the way to the floor. The brakes work but not good. How can I fix this problem. OH, I also had to replace to fluid resivoir cap that I lost with another one. maybe it doesnt seal correctly, but I dont think that would cause this problem would it?

pump the brakes several times. do they get harder? If so, you need to bleed the brakes. You must have compressed the calipers to get them back over the discs with the new pads on. You almost have to open the bleed valve to do this. that will let air into the system, thus the need to bleed. If you're going to bleed them go ahead and buy a large can of fluid and bleed ALL the brakes until the fluid comes out clean and clear. never, never, take your foot off the brake until the bleed valve is closed completely.
