Symptoms:
Brake lights stay on unless I lift up on the pedal.
Lost braking power and pedal went all the way to floor - master cylinder dry. Refilled and brakes work great, except the lights still stay on.
Passenger rear tire locks up before the rest on occasion.
I'm leaning towards power booster, but if I can save the $100, I would definitely appreciate that.
if the master is dry, you have a leake somewhere. pull all four wheels, check wheel cylinders, calipers, rubber lines and check back side of masteer for leaks repair-replace leaking componets and recheck operation
Sound like a leak in the system somewhere. What I would do is hop in the truck and stomp on the brake pedal about 15-20 times. If there's a leak this will pump fluid through to that spot and will drip on the ground. Your rear brake lines travel down the driver side frame rail. It could also be a blown wheel cylinder. Look at the back of the brake drums, you could have brake fluid dripping down. The ONLY reason you will have an empty master cylinder is due to a leak.
Haven't seen any leaks recently. Checked fluid levels in master cylinder yesterday and it hasn't moved. Didn't find any leaks besides oil, tranny fluid, and power steering fluid...just the usual.
