I have a delay when I put my truck into gear. It only happens when I have turned the truck back on. It happens in forward as well as reverse. Does anyone know what is causing this? Syncros?
2005 automatic transmissions are the 5R110. Don't here about many issues with those. Best bet is to scour the 6.0l tech folder or search the transmission on google with like issues.
Wait for Mark K to pipe in as Im still learning these TorqueShifts...but this has been discussed before. I believe its solenoid or line pressure related unless you have hard part failure. Have you scanned the computer for any stored or active codes? Id do this first then dig deeper.
Did you do the basics like check fluid level? Whens the last time the filter and fluid got changed? Are you using the correct fluid etc? 225K is getting up there especially if its never had a fluid and filter change.
He still hasn't said if it is an automatic or a manual.
If it is a manual then the delay is operator error. Most likely it is an automatic, since about 95% were.
Since automatic transmissions don't have synchros, we can eliminate that as a possibility.
The cause of most engagement delays in the TorqShift are sticky solenoids. Old, worn out fluid will cause the solenoids to stick. Sometimes changing the fluid will free them up. It will take some time with new fluid before any change becomes noticeable, if it helps at all.
my neighbor had the same problem. he had 240K miles on it with 40K being his. never changed the fluid and when I checked it , it was black. we drained the fluid and replaced the filter and it behaved much better...but still not the way its supposed to be...probally needs some soft parts work from running with old fluid for so long.
