Dark Side, here I come!
I had an oil leak under my truck. It had been leaving a trail on my concrete driveway. It was getting worse. It was dripping off the oil pump, but I couldn't tell if it was coming from the oil filter, the pump itself or from the oil pan. So I took it to my local garage. Much easier for them to tell on their lift. It was coming from the oil filter. They said the the piece of metal sandwiched between two gaskets that goes between the original style oil filter canister and the block had a crack. So they ordered a spin on oil filter kit.
What's next? A sun visor on the passenger side? A Ford crest step plate on the running board?

Yup. It's a gateway drug alright. Without careful monitoring you'll find the next step to be radial tires - tubeless no less. The horror is just too much to imagine. Be sure to save pics from your 'before' time to spare your family from the shame and humiliation of Poor Truck Part Choices with future generations.
PTPC is a real problem folks. Maybe we can get a gummint grant to fight this scourge. Who's in?

Just a FWIW: Your engine was recently worked on by a self admitted Chebby guy, right? Apologies if I am wrong. Point is, there is a top rear bolt hole that goes into the head on the driver side. Unknowing folks have been known to forget to install a bolt into this hole. The hole runs directly into the push rod passage and the engine will throw oil out this hole when driven at road speeds. Believe me, a Y block is pretty hard to determine where the oil is leaking sometimes. BTW, this can not be a long bolt or it will hit the pushrod.

Forty Niner, what is PTPC? It sounds bad!
And Abe is faced with the siren call of the nymphs. Remember who you are or you'll end up with a Fordomatic or worse, a C6.
