EDIT:The fuel pressure gauge that quit was an DiPricol gauge - it started bouncing around once in a while a couple of years ago. The new sending unit did the same after 6 months or so. They went out of business a few years ago. A shame, the gauges were very nice and matched the OEM very nicely......

Then the EGT gauge finally quit last week - one of the older ISSPRO ones with the amplifier box. This and the Tranny temp amplifier box took up a lot of room under the dash - the new EV2's sure take up less space.....The boost one was the ISSPRO mechanical gauge - it still works, but since I replaced the EGT and the tranny temp ones I went ahead and got the new boost one as well.

Yep, made sure the ones in the F-250 will all run off the same software, that would have been a royal pain to have one gauge needing different software!

Sorry - forgot to answer your question!

The DiPricol fuel press gauge was about 7 years old and I think the ISSPRO EGT was about 10 years old.

This thread is not good news. I've wanted backlit through the numbers "EV" or "EV2" type gauges for years, but after reading this thread, I think I'll just stick with the old school surround lit gauges that I have. After fifteen years of fail free service and counting, why mess with success?

All my gauges are Banks branded. Perhaps Banks adds a layer of vetting or quality/performance/longevity standards that come with the higher cost? They are directly coupled to the device they are measuring. No software, no amplifiers, no versions, no compatibility madness. I don't know who the OEM was, but I don't think these are Isspro, even though at one time Isspro oem'd a gauge or two for Banks.

I was even thinking of getting the backlit multiplexed Performax gauge system... but my interest evaporated after reading this.

Well I hope it wasn't anything I said.....because I really like the ISSPRO EV2 gauges. I like the software, gives me the ability to fine tune the dimmer function to get it just right and actually match the OEM dash.

Secondly, I like the alarm function. You can set the alarm to go off above or below a set value. Like Rich said above, you set the EGT gauge alarm to 1250 so that little red light goes off to remind you in case you happen not to be paying attention. Then for the fuel pressure gauge I set the alarm to go off beow 45 psi.

Yes there have been problems in the past.

I remember the tranny temp gauge sensors having problems when they got wet, that was fixed a long time ago.....

Then the old style amplifier boxes I showed in a picture above don't even exist anymore. I don't know if I should throw it out, send it to a museum or make a Christmas ornament out of it ......They were more than clutter - I had all kinds of wire ties under the dash. Between that and the Diesel Life Saver Box I couldn't fit anything else under there. But that is all gone and no more.

If you have an EV2 gauge without the alarm light they will upgrade yours for $20. So, I will be sending in two gauges from the Excursion for this. I tried to send in the old amplifier tranny gauge for the $20 upgrade - but that didn't float.

Yep, I'm an over caffeinated Buffallo rambling on ......just wanted to make sure I didn't lead you down the wrong path.

Now that the initial software glitches are taken care of - this set of gauges went much smoother & quicker for me. So, if anyone was to buy them today - your getting in after all the upgrades & tweeking has been done.....

I have enjoyed tinkering with the gauges - fine-tuning them to behave the way I like. Other than a mix of old vs. new, I have had no real issues. If one were to have a gauge plan and get a full set at one time, they would avoid the generation issue I ran into.

I've bought, traded, and bought some more gauges - until I hit my target information in the cab. My two rules:
  • Don't buy a gauge for anything the OBDII port will show.
  • Get gauges that are crucial information for engine longevity.

My FP gauge tipped me off that I had air in fuel. My dual-EGTs told me I have an injector imbalance (damage from air in fuel). My boost gauge (I surpass the MAP sensor limit, so I have a fooler on the line) alerted me of a boost leak. Every gauge I own has paid for itself already.

While I'm partial to the ISSPRO EV2s (I like dedicated gauges without a centralized controller), my "spec sheet" is what led me to them:
  • 270-degree sweep.
  • Programmable alarm.
  • Compatibility with the look of the OEM dash.
