Valet Key
When I took passion of my 2014 F250 I was given two keys. They are the 4 button style keys (lock, unlock, panic alarm and the remote start button) and I thought I'd like to have one more. I called the dealer and after being transferred between service and parts I was quite surprised to find out it will cost about $300 for a 4 button duplicate key. I called a local lock shop and found out I could get a basic key with a chip programed for my truck for $115 which I did. I can keep the key in the truck, enter using the keyless entry pad, retrieve the key and start the truck. I'm concerned that if I lose my keys and can't get ahold of my wife I'll be stuck not being able to drive the truck. When I called a friend (who has a 2011 F250 King Ranch) to tell him what I'd done he asked why didn't I just use the valet key? He got a valet key with his truck and I didn't get one. Is this something that comes with certain trim levels, or......? My truck has the Lariat trim package. Thanks, Randy

My truck came with two keys. Using "MyKey", I can turn one into a valet key, but I've never heard of our trucks coming with an extra from the factory. One could easily have a third key cut and programmed into the vehicle security and then set it up as MyKey if they wanted. With MyKey, you can set limits on speed, as well as radio volume (I believe) among other things.
