I had a nice level straight stretch in front of me and engaged the cruise control. No go! I tried a few more times and it still did not engage, even with various button sequences. My thought was that this truck is a computer on wheels. So at the next opportunity I stopped and shutdown the engine, turned the ignition switch OFF and then restarted started the engine (and rebooted the computer). The cruise control works fine!
Mine did the same thing, was pulling a trailer, turned on the cruise control, but it wouldn't hold speed or anything, although the light came on saying it was on. After I stopped and turned the truck off, then restarted, it has worked fine since, been at least six months. So hopefully just a random event.
I have a similar problem with the phone button on the steering wheel. When you end a call, you just hold the phone button until you get "end call". Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. After you shut down then restart, it usually works until the next time it occurs.
I've had the same problem with my cruise control on my 2013 F350. Just got my truck back today. They couldn't find anything wrong. If there is no trouble code or they can't reproduce the problem they have no idea what to do.
The truck is running Microsoft OS in it... You didn't think you never need to reboot it now did you?
Fixed my HVAC this way - although I needed to actually force a computer reboot. Used Forscan to run a diagnostic which did it. The vents wouldn't open no matter what you did.

Are you still experiencing an issue with your cruise control, Jim5x5? If so, I'd recommend swinging by the dealership so you can take your tech on a test drive. How many miles are on the truck?

It's only done it twice. Both times on cross country trips. The first time I had about 18k miles on it, the second time was about 3 months ago with around 25k miles on it. Both times have been after about 4-5 hours of driving. Not sure I can steal a mechanic for that long. lol. If that's the biggest problems Ill have with this truck, I can live with that. Thank you for your help.

Sure thing, Jim5x5; I'm always just a PM away if you need my assistance.
My cruise failed me once this summer while pulling my fiver. I was in tow-haul mode on a hilly narrow road going about 45 with tranny in manual (4th or 5th gear) and it would not set. I tired it later going faster on flatter terrain (in drive) and it worked fine in tow-haul mode. It has never failed me but that one time.
I wondered at the time if it had something to do with having the transmission in manual, slower speed, plus the tow-haul mode.
I've had issues with my cruise control not wanting to resume speed after hitting the resume button in situations where I've had to touch my brakes. Occasionally it will also not want to set the cruise. When I turn cruise off and then back on it works fine.
After reading this thread about a week ago, I experienced the same thing with the cruise: green light was on, but nobody was home. Tried multiple iterations of turning the cruise off & on to no avail. After re-starting the truck, things were fine for the next 300 miles (drive home from camping). Definitely something to keep an we on if it becomes a trend, but this was my first cruise problem in 21k miles.
Hoping for no issues as we head out camping for turkey day.

Hi, gang!
Don't forget that your dealership is a great resource to get your trucks cruisin' again. If you need help after getting a diagnosis, just give me a shout.
