Intermittant Cruise Control Problem
I'm having an intermittant problem with my cruise control. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it requires me to hit the button several times before it will actually engage. Other times it never does. The times it doesn't engage, the indicator on the dash will flicker when I hit the button, but will not stay on. Has anyone had this problem or know of a solution?

This sounds like my life from August to a few weeks ago... sometimes work, sometimes didn't. Same symptom with the dash light too. There should be a Post I wrote around this website somewhere about the very same thing (04 SportTrac Cruise problem 10-27-06). Long story short after much trial and effort it was the switch that stands straight up from and is at the end of the Master Cylinder. Eventually I was lucky enough to be near the dealer when it wasn't working. He stuck a jumper on the plug that plugs into the switch (one end in each terminal). Cruise worked. Stopped and took the jumper off and plugged the plug back into the switch it didn't work. Jumped it again and it did. Replaced the switch and no more problems. Hope this helps.
