The only stock overdrives was a transmission for these trucks was in the F-7 and F-8. I think there were aftermarket Brownie units but supposidly it's hard to get parts.
A '49- early '51 Merc OD will bolt on ( works on '48-'52 trucks ). They are made like the stock truck trans with half the bellhousing on the front of the tranny. They require some crossmember mods and of course all the electricals to go with the OD.

Yikes! Sorry, I didn't know they were THAT expensive. They quoted me $1000-$1200 for my AOD, as memory serves. Might want to double-check that $2K price, if I'm wrong, "I sorry; my bad..."
