Overdrive light

I have a 97 f-150 when I tow my trailer my overdrive light starts flashing. Does anyone have any idea what this is all about.

Overdrive light

The Overdrive Light on the gearshift lever (I think that's the only one)? Is the overdrive off or on before it starts flashing?

I have noticed that when I turn my overdrive off, there is still a light on in there. Seems like the light is always on, but when I hit the button to turn it off, a little cover goes over the light to make it appear off. And a little bit of light escapes past the cover. Seems strange. I doubt this will help you in any way, but I've always wondered about it.
