I recently bought a '75 f350 Supercab Camper Special that had been sitting for over 10 years. I have gotten it running and driving pretty nicely, and now need to get new tires and possibly wheels. I have read many people go to the 16 inch tires because they are easier to get. What is the bolt pattern for this year/model truck? I have spent an hour googling and cannot find a solid answer. (is 5X5.5 correct?)
Your 75 F350 should be an 8 lug nut truck...so when we say 8 on 6 1/2 that is 8 lugs on a 6 & 1/2" spacing or bolt circle. Maybe ck out some up to 98 Super Duty rims, ck with some tire shops that sale "take off" sets.
If it has 16.5 rims on it now, then yes going with a 16" rim will give you a ton of tire options.
My truck has the original wheels, so they should be 16.5. I have not taken off the hubcaps yet - a previous owner drilled screws through two of them, I guess to keep them from coming off? Not sure how hard that will be to remove or what he screwed into... The screw is right in the middle of the hubcap.
I want to keep the truck as original as possible, but may change to 16" wheels for more options.
If he screwed the front, I bet he screwed right into the grease cap for the front hub/rotor. Dana 60 rear and not a place to run a screw unless he tapped into the end of the axle??
Use a pick to clean out the screw heads real well, and use a very correct screw driver, # 1 or # 2 ect..use some spit and baking soda or fine sand on the tip to get a better bite?
Once its stripped, special stripped screw extractor tool time or a pair of vice grips. I am sure you can get some OEM looking/aftermarket hub caps in 16".
Looks like just the driver side rear wheel currently has a screw in it. The other rear wheel has a hole that leads me to believe he did the same thing to the other side as well, but there is no screw. Wheels are coming up on my list of things to do so I guess I will find out what damage, if any, was done.
I might vaguely remember a small hump right in the middle of the rear axle end plate?? He might of tapped in there, but I am guessing on that hump thing.

Does the truck have optional wheel covers or standard equipment hub caps? With a P/O using screws...this problemo appears to be related to wheel covers, not an uncommon occurrence.
The standard equipment hub caps are "outies" so called because the hub cap snaps over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.
Optional wheel covers for 1972/77 F250/350's: Require the D2TZ-1210-A 16" trim ring to be snapped on first, then the D2AZ-1130-J Galaxie/LTD 15" wheel cover is snapped onto the trim ring.
These wheel covers were notorious for flying off, especially when the trucks rounded corners.
Parts catalog pic: TYPE 2 is the hub cap / TYPE 5 is the wheel cover.
