1958 Ford Pickup

Have not got it home yet, it will come home tomorrow.
Very clean cool old truck.
I just purchased this 1958 Ford pickup with 292 V8, 4 speed. it has a 57 Grill and came with a bunch of parts. 2- 58 Chrome grills, engine harness, new distributor and starter, good complete engine harness, 3.70 third member, extra chrome and other parts. Very little rust. No dents in the bed inside or out!

Thanks!
I am not sure witch direction to go? Stay stock or go 302 5 speed EFI setup.
I can buy a Crown Vic front end from the same guy I purchased the truck from for 300 complete. I just sold my New 347 dart short block, mixed emotions!
I have a Fox Body T5 setting in the floor of my garage, a Chrome 302 T5 Bell Housing, 90 Model Mustang engine harness and A9P ECM with the mass air setup.
The truck comes complete.

Witch way is the the truck worth more?
Stock or FUN!

good looking truck, you have a better starting point than me. I am going to keep watching to see how yours goes. I, like you am thinking of the EFI package. You be the guinea pig and tell me how it goes. From what I see the CV front end is pretty straight forward and is the way to go.

Well, I'd say go the way you want to! That's the whole idea. Sounds like you are familiar with making things go fast already! And with the changed out bumpers, wheel/tires, bedrails and exhaust, it already kind of looks like a power machine. I mean that as a good thing. Personally, I find it more challenging to go stock which makes it more gratifying for me. But that is why that make chocolate and vanilla!

Stock or for fun?

If I was building it to be a truck I was going to keep a long while, I would put in the EFI 302 5 speed, but I know its more of an investment to sell after playing with it. I have a 2014 Mustang GT and the wife says one or the other So I want it to be worth more when done, I am just not sure witch way that is?
I can sell the side pipes, headers, front grill, bumpers, wheels and tires, take off the bed rails and make enough to pay for more than half of the stock 292 engine overhaul. Drop the 292 and stock drive line back in, replace the windshield and put all stock parts back on and do a small amount of body repair, then sell it.

What is the better route?

Very nice truck, if you can only have one I will take it off your hands no problem .

IF it were me I would do what is true to you and if that is doing an
EFI upgrade the do it. I'm not let's keep it original guy at all, I love the style but I prefer tech upgrades as well. I would do the Crown Vic swap as it is very inexpensive and gets better braking and power steering, for the rear end find and old 94 Tbird or approx 94 and swap in the rears IRS with rear disc if you can and again very inexpensive.

It seems to have a very good foundation and probably has some rust but that can be repaired. If I could find one as clean as the one you just picked up I would be all over it.

I will, in the next two days have 5 cars in my yard so I am not really ready to take this project on. Come and get it if you want it $4500.00 and I will give you all the extra parts.

As tempting as it is 2000 miles away is a bit far, but I appreciate the offer.

I will be following your thread once you get going.

Make it a vacation. Years ago I wanted a 68-69 crewcab and found one 2300 miles away, bought it. Then got on the internet and found a car that needed to go to the same area. Had a nice trip and got home with $400 more than I left with.
