I plan on going through my front end this winter and am still going to hold off on lowering until I get a spare axle to send in-my question is I see 2 different sizes for kingpins on rock auto and to be completely honest, I have no idea aboot kingpins. how do i know what size to get?
I am also going to refinish my steering wheel-what is best paint to use so that it wont rub off all over my hands?
cool, so I should get the bigger and ream to be safe?
good place to purchase a reamer?
Oversize king pins are required when the axle end gets egg shaped from severe use/ abuse. not needed in most cases.
Why not pull it apart before ordering parts.....that way you can see and get exactly what you need?
just to minimize downtime, I drive my truck often. sounds like the best thing to do is blow apart and order parts. will post how it goes when i get going on it
Unless you are sold on doing the bushing install yourself, it dosen't cost much to have a heavy duty truck or bus repair shop install and ream the new bushings in your spindles. When properly sized, the new pins should slide thru like butter. Besides, the shops sometimes don't mind a break from working on the everyday and doing something on an old truck.

Good luck trying to find a reamer to buy, it's almost impossible. I almost got one on Ebay once but was outbid. They are a special reamer that align both holes when you ream them. I'm on my 3rd set and always take my spindles to a shop to be done.. The king pins have never shown any sign of wear but the bushings do, I just use the new pins because they come with the kits..
