Can anyone point me to directions to replace the mechanical fuel pump on a 1990 F350 7.3? It appears I'm going to have to remove the front end just to get to one of the bolts. Is there an easier way?
two bolts, one in front one in rear.
take the fuel lines off, remove the bolts, pop the new one in making sure the arm is under the cam, bolt it on and put the lines on.
total time less than 1/2 hour doing it from the top.
Not sure how to get to them from the top with everthing in the way but I managed to get the two bolts off. Took about 2 hours.
Do I have to positin the cam in the up position or should it already be there. I didn't hear or feel it move to the down position when I removed the old pump.
Also, do you recommend a sealant gasket in addition to the paper gasket that came with it?
i just slip the pump in with the arm down a but then tip it up til the arm engages the cam.
i never had any problem with anything in the way on my 88.
the only problem i had was working off a ladder, because when the lift pump went it was riding on 40's
