Help Numberdummy!!

Hi, new here. Second thread but love reading everything and am somewhere in the mid hundreds of the over 1000 pages! I have 2 66 f250s (I was told) and would love to know for sure if you would be so kind to help. The bottom truck numbers have me confused especially. Sorry for the lack of pics but I haven't figured it out yet. info is:

F25YR817575
129 BV F250 C81 A 24
07500 172 4000 73

F25BK891001
129 M F253(?) 481 F 24
06000 150 3600 73

Thanks,
John

This will be interesting. From what I know the sequence numbers for both trucks puts them in 1966 (732,001 thru 914,000), but the F253 doesn't show as a valid model code until 1967. I know those tags are very small so some have mistyped or misread some of the info on them before. Are you certain about the info? If so, ND to the rescue. Lol.

Thank you, thank you!! That helps a bunch and clears up things for me. I am selling the one with the 300 i6 and wanted to make sure I new what I was selling. Hoping to use the proceeds to finish the 352 rebuild in the other one. Really big thanks

Interestingly, the truck that is painted Caribbean turquoise is two-tone the other tone probably the V, is a cream color. But underneath the cream color you can see the Caribbean turquoise in wear spots which I thought was strange. The paint job looks very clean though and of the same timeframe as the Caribbean turquoise so I'm not sure what that's all about

I have the 1966 FoMoCo color chip chart that was used at the parts counter. It has chips of the actual colors glued to it, decodes all 1966 FoMoCo COLOR codes.

There is no V code for any 1966 truck, Bronco or Econoline.

V = 1966 FoMoCo Passenger Cars: Emberglo Metallic which resembles burnt copper.

Caribbean Turquoise was tu-toned with white, could be: C = Pure White / M = Wimbledon White

Embarrassing. I couldn't see the forest for the trees!! I see it now plain as day. Thanks everyone. Would they have painted over the green with the white to get the two-tone?

Yes. My tu-tone truck is gold under the areas that were painted white. Same deal.

I'm still curious about the 253 for the Model Code. Here's what the MPC says on page 45 of text manual. Maybe we'll never know....
